Silicon dioxide is an important inorganic non-metallic material with the chemical formula SiO ₂, widely present in natural minerals such as quartz and sandstone. After purification and processing, it exhibits diverse functional characteristics in modern industrial systems. According to different preparation processes, silica can be divided into various forms such as gas-phase method, precipitation method, and melting method. Each form has its own characteristics in particle size distribution, specific surface area, and surface activity, and is suitable for different technical scenarios.

In the field of electronics, high-purity fused silica is used to manufacture insulation layers in semiconductor devices due to its excellent dielectric properties and thermal expansion matching, which can effectively improve the stability and reliability of chips. In terms of optical devices, ultra pure quartz glass is made of silicon dioxide, which has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion and good transparency. It is commonly used as a packaging material for precision instrument windows, laser cavities, and solar panels.

In the application of composite materials, nanoscale silica is widely added as a functional filler to rubber, plastic, and coating systems. It can not only significantly improve the mechanical strength, tear resistance, and wear resistance of materials, but also improve the leveling and scratch resistance of coatings. Especially in tire manufacturing, the introduction of white carbon black (i.e. precipitated silica) significantly improves wet road grip and rolling resistance performance, becoming a key additive for green tires.

In addition, due to its highly developed pore structure and strong adsorption capacity, silica is also used as a desiccant, catalyst carrier, and adsorption medium in environmental remediation. In the pharmaceutical industry, micronized silica can be used as a flow aid to prevent powder agglomeration and ensure the uniformity and stability of the formulation process. Overall, silica plays an irreplaceable role in multiple industrial chains due to its stable physicochemical properties and controllable microstructure.
